Perú becomes third country to guarantee net neutrality

Perú becomes the third country that guarantees network neutrality
network neutrality
This law principle prevents that the Internet Service providers (ISP) could interfere with the network traffic.

So, strengthens the freedom of expression and online information. The principle has been established within 29904 law: Law of promotion by the State of the broadband and the construction of the dorsal national network of optical fiber, published in the oficial newspaper "El Peruano" on Friday 20 July.
Article 6. - Freedom to use broadband applications or protocolsInternet access providers (ISP) will respect the network neutrality by which cannot arbitrarily block, interfere, discriminate or restrict the right of any user to use an application or Protocol, regardless of its source, destination, nature or ownership.
The Agency Supervisor of private investment in telecommunications - OSIPTEL, determines the behaviors that will not be considered arbitrary, concerning the neutrality of the network.

It's a great victory for internet users, because it favors development of the Internet in Perú !!!

Peruvian LoCo Team Re-Approved

I am very happy to announce that at the last meeting of the Ubuntu LoCo Council, Ubuntu Perú obtained the re-approval as official team until 2014.

This recognition would not have been possible without the help of the entire local community through events, talks, and online help making our LoCo Team grow and thrive!

Special thanks to Jose Antonio Rey for helping during all this time, much of this would not have been possible without your service to the community ;)

The logs of IRC interview can be found here: Minutes LoCo Council.
